Dr. Grayson is on the cutting edge of mind/body/spirit psychology He received his Ph.D. in psychology from Boston University and a 4 year post-doctoral certificate psychotherapy and psychoanalysis from the Postgraduate Center for Mental Health. He has since studied neuropsychology, most of the major psychotherapies, the new power therapies (EFT, EMDR, etc.), quantum physics, energy psychology, mindfulness and meditation, and mindbody research and methods. Eastern and Western spiritual philosophies.
This rich background led him to his work in scientifically & spiritually based mindbody energy psychology and his creation of Synergetic Therapy, an advanced psychotherapy integration. Synergy is “the simultaneous action of separate agencies which together, have greater effect than the sum of their individual parts.” (Webster Dictionary).
He is the Founder and Chairman Emeritus of the Board of Trustees of the National Institute for the Psychotherapies, a leading postgraduate training Institute in New York and the the Institute for Synergetic Therapy. In addition, he is the Co-Chairman of the medical PTSD Division of the Stand for The Troops Foundation.
He has led training seminars and lectured widely across the US and abroad. He was the host of the Mindful Living show for several years on the Progressive Radio Network and continues to appear in numerous documentaries and PBS specials, and was the Resident Psychologist on the Weight Watchers Magazine Show on Lifetime Network hosted by Lynn Redgrave five times a week. He is the author of Your Power to Heal: Resolving Psychological Barriers to Your Physical Health, (Release date: April 1, 2017 from Sounds True), Mindful Loving: 10 Practices for Creating Deeper Connections from Gotham Penguin and the best selling 9 1/2 hour CD Audio Series for Sounds True, The New Physics of Love: The Power of Mind & Spirit in Relationships. His academic titles include Three Psychotherapies: A Clinical Comparison, Short Term Approaches to Psychotherapy, and Changing Approaches To The Psychotherapies.
